About eduPACS

eduPACS brings full DICOM teaching files to the web using modern web standards.

Most radiology education materials still use static images to show key aspects of disease appearance, usually by trying to capture relevant findings on one or a few images. While useful for quickly reviewing cases, this approach loses some of the experience of reviewing a study and searching for abnormalities.

As technology has progressed, nearly all medical imaging is now stored in digital format. With modern web technologies, these images can now be displayed in a browser in exactly the same way a radiologist views them at the reading room workstation, allowing the learner to approach the study in the exact same way they might in the real world.

eduPACS uses the wonderful Cornerstone library by Chris Hafey to display and manipulate these images, and adds some educational features.
